You are going to be a parent soon! Have you decided on a home birth, a birth center or a hospital yet? Whatever your choice is I would love to be present as your Doula and create a safe environment for you and your partner to let those endorphins flow.

Congratulations on Parenthood

Research has shown that the presence of a Doula decreases medical interventions and the use of pain medication.

The Birth of a Mother

When a Birth mama feels safe, because of the support of her surroundings, she is able to tap into what I believe is the core power of being a female -- our ability to give birth to new life.

When you feel safe you produce hormones, called endorphins, which help you dilate.

Let your endorphins flow

Meet your Doula

I had planned a home birth and five years of breastfeeding. It did not go according to my wishes. I was 2.5 weeks overdue. The end result was 19 hours of natural labor and an 11-pound boy, who had trouble being breastfed. But what I did not know is that you could love someone that much! Or that I had the physical power to be in labor for 19 hours without pain medication and give birth to an 11- pound human. That love and female power is the fuel of my existence as a woman. As a Doula I would love to pass that experience on and hold space for the next mama.

I’ve worked in different settings (at home and in hospital) and with people who have had water births, lotus births, C-sections and women who have had twins. I have worked with women who have suffered postpartum depression and/or psychoses, and I’ve worked with people of different sexual orientations and with women of different cultural backgrounds (including wives in polygamous marriage).

Kraamzorg, Dutch Heritage

In the Netherlands every mum who just gave birth is entitled to a kraamverzorgende, a maternity nurse aid, who takes care of her six hours a day for the first eight days after birth. The kraamverzorgende is present at birth to assist the midwife. This is all covered by and paid for through basic health-care insurance. This Maternity Nurse Aid has a clinical function. She operates on the same level as an LVN, but is trained solely to care for the mother and her baby. She is the "eyes and ears" of the midwife. In that function, she tries to prevent any diseases from occurring by carrying out standardized checkups. She informs the parents on matters concerning postpartum developments, helps to integrate parenthood as a new lifestyle with the baby, provides support with breastfeeding and promotes rest for the new parents.

From the first day of Alexandra's care, it was clear that we had hit the jackpot. Her warmth, genuine caring nature, and exceptional ability to gauge precisely when to offer assistance and when to step back for precious bonding time were incredible. As a first-time parent without my mother around and limited experience with newborns, coupled with the challenges of a difficult birth, I can honestly say that Alexandra became our guiding light during this transformative period.

Each day under her care, my confidence grew, and as a result, I was able to embrace and enjoy every precious moment with my baby to the fullest. I found myself on cloud nine, thanks to Alexandra's support and expert guidance.

Alexandra went above and beyond to enhance our overall comfort. From ensuring we had fresh, nourishing meals to skillfully managing visitors, she took care of every detail that could contribute to our well-being. Even now, 2.5 years later, my family and I still fondly reminisce about the incredible support we received from Alexandra. She truly felt like a guardian angel sent to us during that pivotal time.

If you're considering postpartum care and are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to book Alexandra, don't hesitate. She is a compassionate, experienced, and genuinely exceptional individual who brings sunshine into the lives of new families. We are forever grateful for the positive impact she had on our journey into parenthood.

Almost 2 years ago I had the pleasure of being assisted by kraamzorg (maternity nurse) Alexandra after giving birth to my daughter Rimma in Amsterdam (The Netherlands).

Having undergone a C-section, I was in considerable discomfort, but Alexandra went above and beyond to ensure my comfort during this challenging time. Her attentive care helped ease my pain, allowing me to focus more on bonding with my newborn.

Alexandra meticulously performed all necessary check-ups for both my daughter and me, ensuring our health and well-being were closely monitored. Her professionalism shone through in every aspect of her work.

What truly set Alexandra apart was her incredible personality. She was not only funny and engaging, making our interactions a joy, but also exceptionally attentive. She intuitively understood when I needed some time alone, ensuring I had ample opportunities to rest and recuperate.

I am deeply grateful for Alexandra's help during the crucial first week after giving birth. Her presence was a blend of professional expertise and compassionate care, making her an invaluable part of my postpartum journey.
